Here are a dozen things to keep you busy this weekend!

Antique and collectibles lovers are making the pilgrimage to the Brimfield Antique Flea Markets show that continues through Sunday (rain or shine). Brimfield, MA is famous across the country for the sheer volume, variety and quality of the items offered for sale. It’s the oldest outdoor antiques flea market in the US and is actually comprised of 20 different show fields throughout the area.  While you’re there, check out some of the wonderful restaurants, B&Bs and the bucolic scenery.


Looking for something exciting?  Think balloon festivals only take place in New Mexico? The Northeast Balloon Festival is this Friday, Saturday & Sunday at the Three County Fairgrounds in Northampton, MA.  You can see all sorts of Hot Air Balloons, Tethered and walk-in Balloons, Nighttime Balloon Glows, Pilot Meet &Greets and Competitions.  30+ of New England’s Top Food Trucks will offer gourmet varieties from Tacos and BBQ to Deep Fried Oreos and Lobster Rolls.  Alcoholic Beverages will be available for purchase.  Entertainment includes amusement rides, a petting zoo, the region's Top Performing Musical Artists, Handmade Craft Artisan Vendors, Kids Zone &More!!!


Music Town Ipswich happens in downtown Ipswich on Friday from 6-10 pm.  Enjoy live music, great food, and good times on a summer evening.  Nine downtown locations including The Brown Dog, Zumi’s and Heart and Soul Café will become music and food venues for the night, most within a walkable distance on foot! Patton Homestead Military Service Day at General Patton’s home at 650 Asbury Street in Hamilton. Free Admission on Saturday (rain or shine) from 10-4.  There will be 1943 M4A Sherman and 1945 M24 Chaffee Tank operating demonstrations! State Police EC135 helicopter landing and display, special guest speakers, Military re-enactors, and vehicles & artillery.  The Boston Park Rangers Mounted Patrol Unit, City of Boston Parks Department Park Ranger Division, State Police K9, and Mounted Troopers, Harvard Polo Team riders, and YES family friendly food trucks! For more info: 978-317-1234


Smolak Farms hosts its annual Red, White & Blue Festival on Saturday and Sunday. There will be lots of family fun, including children’s games, bouncy house, giant slide, crafting, live music and more.  Tickets are $10/child.  For an additional cost you can pick your own berries, take a hayride or cow train ride and get your face painted!

Who doesn’t love pizza? Indulge in your favorite pies and find some new shops to visit at the Boston Pizza Festival!  The Boston Pizza Festival is back for its third year with participating pizzerias from all over the world including Boston's Best!  There will be live music, pizza acrobats, giveaways, beer & wine and…pizza!   Saturday& Sunday from 12-8 at Boston’s City Hall Plaza.


Classic Car Show

at the Polish Club, 12 Cheever Street in Danvers.  Enjoy an afternoon checking out classic cars, try your luck at raffles, 

partake of delicious food and drink, and do some dancing to the tunes from DJ Lil’ Jimmy’s Stack of Records from 12:30-4:00 on Sunday.

It’s the first block party of the summer in Gloucester on Saturday from 6-10 pm.  The Gloucester Block Party is a fun and festive family-friendly event that closes off a portion of Main Street to allow for live music from local bands, street performers, youth theater performances, acrobats, al fresco dining, food vendors, children’s activities and more!  Enjoy the ride along the Cape Ann coast and check out what Gloucester has to offer!


Our local farmers and artisans are offering their wares at the Andover and North Andover Farmers Markets – Saturday in Andover from 10-2 at the Amos-Blanchard House at 97 Main Street and Sunday in North Andover from 10-2 in the parking lot at 1st and Main.  Come fill your baskets with locally grown and produced vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meat, pasta, baked goods and more.  


It’s the Independence Festival in Exeter, NH this Saturday from 10-4.  Check ou the historic encampments, see re-enactments and portrayals of events from 1776, wander through the artisans’ village and take a museum tour.  Thirsty? Have an ale in the Folsom Tavern, where George Washington ate breakfast.  Hungry?  There will be food trucks or you can eat at one of Exeter’s charming restaurants.


Get your history on while enjoying a brew from Gentile Brewing Company at the Gentile Beer Garden.  From 2-6 pm you can learn about North Shore history on the lawn of the Hale Farm at 39 Hale Street in Beverly.  You can listen to a 15 minute Spotlight talk on hearth cooking and the kids can enjoy story time, participate in crafts and cool off in the root beer garden.
